Description
I took a break from my planet series to work on this piece.I got inspired one night to paint a beautiful empress who looks as evil as she does kind.
I have my own story in mind for this image but I want the viewer to interpret there own story. I want the viewer to also question what her emotions could be.
I painted this image in Photoshop. No references were used. I spent a lot of time on this image working on her skin especially. Painting the solders in the background was a bit tedious as well but fun at the same time.

not that easy to use that tone of yours and get away with it
but you do it, and you do it good. +7

There's some errant fluffiness here and there, most notably around the horizon behind her face and by the outline of her face. The ornaments in her hair are also itsy bitsy fuzzy-looking. With so much finesse in the shading in her eyes the presumably metallic decorations seem to fall a bit short.
I didn't recognise the soldiers as such until you mentioned them in the description. I puzzled over that part of the image and decided it must be some kind of garden. :x You could probably make it clearer with some carefully placed reflections where the helmets of the individual soldiers are, reflecting the red light and the blue background.
The clouds seem slightly muddled, particularly in the upper right. Even though they *are* kinda fluffy by nature, a little more color variation and refinement (mostly where they go behind her head and by the edge of the canvas) would make them look more finished.
All in all it's a very nice piece though, the effort you put into it really shows.

Agree about the clouds and details on the bg.
